hello ronron is an independent womenswear label creating fully fashioned knitwear for life in warmer climates.

Founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2022 and designed between Taiwan and Singapore, we begin with the bodies, climates and everyday lives around us.

hello ronron began with a love of knitwear and a wish to make it part of everyday dressing in a warm climate.

We were drawn to its softness, the detail within a knitted surface, and the way it could follow the body through stretch and movement.

Life in Kuala Lumpur gave that idea a setting: humid afternoons, sudden rain and the cool of air-conditioned rooms. These familiar conditions informed the clothes we wanted to make—fine knits, considered proportions and feminine silhouettes with room to move.

Angela Tsai-Jung Chiang is a Taiwanese designer and the founder of hello ronron. Born in Taipei, she graduated in Fashion Design from Central Saint Martins in London.

Her practice spans womenswear, printed textiles and theatre costume, bringing together an interest in surface, silhouette and the way fabric behaves on a moving body.

Living across Taiwan, Canada, the United Kingdom and Malaysia brought different ways of dressing into view. With hello ronron, those experiences take a specific focus: developing knitwear around the proportions of East and Southeast Asian women, and the conditions in which the clothes are worn.

Fine ribs, pointelle, shaped waists and softened necklines recur across our collections. References to the cheongsam and kebaya appear in proportions and details, interpreted through the flexibility of knit.

We develop our own fits and patterns, considering the placement of a shoulder, the height of a waist and the fall of a skirt together. Fully fashioned construction allows panels to be knitted to shape before they are linked. The silhouette takes form within the knitting itself.

Made in small batches, the collections build on one another, revisiting familiar shapes through new colours, textures and details.

We have built hello ronron through the clothes themselves and the women who wear them. A design begins with an idea in the studio. Once worn, it tells us more: how the neckline sits, where ease is needed, which pieces become part of a regular wardrobe.

Conversations with customers return to the work, informing fit, proportion and the development of future pieces. Each design remains an expression of our point of view, refined through the experience of wearing it.

Today, that conversation continues between our studio and women across Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and beyond.
